Goldman Sachs Emerg Mkts Eq Svc (GEMSX) seeks long-term capital appreciation. It was incepted in December 1997.

The fund normally invests at least 80% of its net assets in a diversified portfolio of equity investments in emerging country issuers. The fund maintains investments in at least six emerging countries, and will not invest more than 35% of its assets in securities of issuers in any one emerging country. Allocation of the fund’s investments will depend upon the relative attractiveness of the emerging country markets and particular issuers.

Dividends and distributions from net capital gains are declared and paid annually. As of July 2009, its portfolio turnover was 276%.

Richard Flax has been lead manager of the fund since May 2004. Flax is a Chartered Financial Analyst and worked at Fleming Investment Management before joining Goldman Sachs in 2001.

Goldman Sachs Growth Opp A (GGOAX) was incepted in May 1999. The objective of the fund is to seek long-term growth of capital.

The fund invests at least 90% of its total assets in equity investments with a primary focus on mid-capital companies. The fund seeks to achieve its investment objective by investing in a diversified portfolio of equity investments that are considered to be strategically positioned for long-term growth.

Shareholders have to make a minimum initial investment of $1,000 to enter this Zacks#1 Rank (”Strong Buy”) fund. It has an expense ratio of 1.45%.

David G. Shell has been lead manager of the fund since May 1999. Before joining Goldman Sachs, Shell was a senior portfolio manager at Liberty Investment Management.

Goldman Sachs Growth & Income (GOIIX) seeks long-term capital appreciation and current income. It was incepted in January 1998.

The fund normally invests 60% of its total assets in underlying equity funds, which provide the capital appreciation component. Allocation to underlying fixed-income funds provides the income component. A relatively significant percentage of its equity is allocated to the CORE Large Cap Growth, CORE Large Cap Value and CORE International Equity Funds. The fund invests a relatively significant percentage of its assets in the Core Fixed Income and Global Income Funds
